An Educational Field Trip to Ossabaw Island is an opportunity that rarely comes around....we'll depart from Coffee Bluff Marina at 9:30 am and explore some marshland on the way to Ossabaw Island, where we'll be met by Naturalist and On-Island Coordinator, Jim Bitler. Jim will explain the history of this unique island jewel which was designated in 1978 as the first Georgia State Heritage Preserve. We will explore the historic North End Plantation site and get an update on the preservation and restoration of the tabby slave quarters which recently received national attention. The total time expected on Ossabaw Island itself is roughly 2 hours, and expect a one hour roundtrip boat ride. This is a rare opportunity and the cost per passenger is $85, which includes all Ossabaw Foundation fees, guide fees, and transportation. Also go to www.ossabawisland.org for further information.
