One Sound was formed in 2008 by musicians and long time friends Thomas Stokes III (bass), RaSheed Akbar (Saxophone), Jermaine Baker (drums), Anthony Jones (keys) and James Smith (lead guitar). One Sound is a blend of diverse musical genres that includes contemporary jazz, classic R&B, funk, gospel and progressive “sweet” soul music. Together, all of these influences create a contemporary take on original tunes and allows them to expand their versatility for a fresh, new look at old jazz standards. Listening to One Sound you can hear the influence of such great artists as Wayman Tisdale, Grover Washington Jr., Fourplay, Herbie Hancock, Earl Klugh, Fred Hammond and Marcus Miller.

Individually, the members of One Sound have performed for several years with many diverse artists, including local trombone legend Teddy Adams, Mary Davis, Timothy Wright and Gerald Thompson, performances in such places as Georgia, New Orleans, West Africa and even Egypt.
