Q: What is the St. Patrick’s Day schedule of events?
A: The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin around 10 a.m. on March 17 in downtown Savannah. There will also be festivities in City Market, on River Street and throughout the Historic District that begin in the morning and go well into the night.

Q: When is St. Patrick’s?
Festivities for St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah, especially the parade, are usually held on March 17 unless the date falls on a Sunday or unless otherwise indicated.

Q: When are the azaleas in bloom?
A: Depending on the weather, the azaleas are mostly in full bloom mid-March through the 3rd week in April; however, the azaleas can bloom as early as January or February if the temperatures are mild.

Q: Where is the Paula Deen Restaurant?
A: The Lady & Sons Restaurant is located at 102 West Congress Street in the Historic District, at the corner of Congress and Whitaker Streets. Please keep in mind that the restaurant only takes reservations for 10 or more. The restaurant offers priority seating for groups of less than 10 people. You must appear in person the day you plan to dine-in with them and sign up at the host stand; the host/hostess will appear at 9:30 a.m. Reservations are accepted for the following holidays no matter how large or small your group is: Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and New Year’s Eve. Q: What hotels are located on the Savannah River?
A: The Bohemian Hotel, Hyatt Regency Savannah, Olde Harbour Inn, River Street Inn, Savannah Marriott Riverfront and The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa (located on Hutchinson Island)

Q: Where is the Forrest Gump bench located?
A: Inside the Savannah History Museum at 301 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, but the famous “Box of Chocolates” scenes were shot in Chippewa Square on Bull Street.

Q: Where is the Bird Girl statue?
A: Inside the Telfair Academy at 207 West York Street. Its original resting place was Savannah’s Bonaventure Cemetery.

Q: Where can we find downspout fountains?
A: Decorated downspouts, or waterspouts, can be found in the Historic District among the city’s eclectic architecture and ironwork. Downspout fountains can be shaped like dolphins (dolphin fish).

Q: When is the best time to see the leaves change?
A: The leaves don’t really “change” here in Savannah that happens more in North Georgia. Savannah’s live oak trees don’t shed their leaves all at one time.

Q: Is it safe to walk at night?
A: It is safe to walk at night but like with most cities you want to be cautious. Always walk in well-lit areas in groups, avoid the use of shortcuts and be sure to always cross the streets in a well-lit area at marked crosswalks or intersections, if possible.

A: Savannah offers many activities and attractions for kids of all ages! From the ArtZeum at the Jepson Center for the Arts to the Roundhouse Railroad Museum, Savannah has more than 45 historical and cultural attractions for children to explore.
